Taj City Centre New Town, Kolkata

On the booking.com website we were offered the room with Jacuzzi but at the hotel we need to pay extra for the same.

Great location close to the airport and great restaurants and shopping. The property itself is very well maintained and comfortable. The staff is very helpful and welcoming

Food service at Shamiyaana. Food trays were often empty and most staff just loiter around, instead of catering to needs of the guests.

Large modern room. All facilities worked. The staff was very nice and helpful. Great bathroom

Great view from our room and the staff was very supportive, especially when we got food poisoning. Feels premium (mostly). Great breakfast options.

The laundry at this hotel is insanely expensive. The room could have been a lot cleaner (e.g. a lot of dust under the bed).The outdoor pool on the rooftop kinda pointless given that at any point in the year there is unbearable heat and / or extreme pollution. The hotel should have invested in better toilet paper, which was super cheap and other small ammenities that were just not at the level the hotel wants to be at.

Of course it is Taj. It has to be good. The room was spacious and bathroom was clean. Daily housekeeping did their job well. Everything was good.

It is not about the property but the people staying in the property. There were few guests in my floor who were talking loudly and shouting. What else can you expect from Indians ?

The service is very good and Mr Dipankar including other stuff members are immediate available to help you.

Happiness is when u just drop a note about ur kiddos birthday while booking and Taj totally spoils him with a complimentary Birthday Decoration ,gift and cake where each staff treats him in such a splendid manner that we r so overwhelmed.... Food...but the bakery section is amazing... specially d cakes and mishti doi...

The property is very convenient and close to the airport and City Centre 2 shopping mall. The room category i chose this time was the lowest one so i got what i paid for . It was spacious enough and all equipment worked well. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. This hotel was inherited from Swissotel and since then few changes have been made but what made a big difference is the staff knowledge and willingness to accommodate requests. I hosted a dinner at the Shamiyana restaurant and the F&B team was exceptional. There are many other luxury hotels in Kolkata where i have stayed but i felt that the staff service standards are superior to other properties such as ITC and Park.

The gym floor space is a bit limited, at busy times , 5 users are a tight fight in terms of availability of equipment.An ergonomic office chair to the desk would be a good addition for people travelling on business who would like to work from the room.

The location being near the airport is an advantage apart from the property offering views of the entire city especially from the top floors.

Carpets in a humid location can be avoided. There’s a mustiness in the air both in the room and corridor

What a beautiful hotel to stay in. The staff are extremly helpful. They gave us local recommendations. It was like having a local guide at your hotel.Stand outs were Salauddin who was just a call away to help with everything and Salini. She was very helpful and was almost out local guide. Thanks for the hospitality.

The bed is too soft.

This location is very far from city center location which is park street. The mall next door with McDonald's and other eateries does not open until 11 am. So I was starved for breakfast and things to do until 11 am.The mall next door is good and clean. But the neighboring Rajarhat area with shops etc is pretty run down with piles of garbage in every block. It's a shock coming here from USA, meaning the uncleanness of kolkata streets. I couldn't even walk around the neighborhood without fearing being hit by a car or bus. There is no traffic rules etc so hard to walk around and navigate.

Behaviour of employees from driver to security to reception/ front office to housekeeping to restaurant. Means every one with consistent good behaviour and with great service orientation. Food choices in the restaurant excellent. Location excellent.

Staff was excellent

The room was too cold and the thermostat didn’t allow us to control the temperature. TV was not working and despite asking for help the rep couldn’t fix it.

Welcoming staff. Great food, lovely jacuzzi in the room and comfy bed. Nice & classy restaurant and pool in the 6th floor.

Creaky floor sounds while walking when the baby is asleep, due to wooden flooring.

Breakfast was excellent. Due to our busy schedule to meet with our friends and family, we could not get time for having lunch and/or dinners. Better luck next time.

The only thing we have noticed that bathroom lights were not sufficient specially at the mirror for shaving or make up for the ladies.

Everything; well appointed and spacious hotel with good facilities and helpful staff.
